What are micromounts?

Micromounts may be defined as permanently mounted mineral specimens witch require magnification and illumination for proper observation.  Micromounts vary in size from specimens so small they will fit on a pin, to pieces about three quarters of an inch square.  (source The complete guide to Micromounts by Milton L.
